Everyday Carry Is A Lie
It’s not about the same gear—it’s about the same purpose...

Apparently, the only way to qualify for ‘everyday carry’ is to never change anything… ever, which is ironic, coming from a community obsessed with the next best thing.
I’ve carried more knives than most people have opinions about knives. And that’s saying something. And if that disqualifies me from the EDC club… cool. I’ll just keep my membership to the Try New Shit club instead.
Let’s do the damn thing.

Father’s Day Gift Guide
Our annual Father’s Day gift guide is live over on the channel. I would tell you to share it with your wife or kids so they’ll know what to get you. But who am I kidding? You’re going to just watch it for yourself, aren’t you?

Carry of the Week

This carry setup has taken me a good five months to figure out, between swapping knives, multi tools, lights and other smaller tools, I finally figured out an impeccable carry for myself in the aerospace industry.
I exclusively use the PowerPint for most of the work I accomplish (hence the wear). The Icon 1/4" ratchet gets into harder to reach places for engine work and is stronger than expected. The MecArmy light I had found in an old drawer and has enough lumens for when I have to do test cell repairs and part swaps in the darker environments. What I adore most about my carry is the patina and wear marks they’ve acquired, it’s a sign of actually using the gear and putting it through its paces.
Looking for watch that is a little more durable than my current Casio Illuminator--something that won’t let up should I wear it while wrenching. Or maybe a nice canvas hat (sorta like the old Hitch and Timber one).

On My Radar
About a week before Blade Show, things are typically pretty quiet. But Melissa and TKell Knives teamed up to release the WharnEDC. It’s built on the same platform as the Pirahna, but with a wharncliffe blade. Rikki made a reelumentary about it over on Instagram if you want the full rundown. He also mentioned there will be a special version available at Blade Show next week.
Pro-Tech is also releasing a Blade Show special edition of the TR-3.1 in an antique PVD finish and black fish scale aluminum handles.
Monkey Edge posted the RMJ Mortifier, a tiny keychain/neck knife axe. It’s not exactly my style, but it’s hard to deny the cool factor.
UltiClip announced APH, a new belt attachment for Kydex sheaths. It’s an ultra-minimalist wire clip—very slim, strong, and simple. The APH will be coming out June 6th at Blade Show.
Community Hot Take
Let’s start with a hot take from Instagram. This one’s from @freowin97 on Instagram, who said: “It’s not everyday carry if you rotate everything every day.”

I’ve talked about this before. Honestly, for most of the time I’ve been running this channel, I haven’t felt like I truly have an everyday carry. New gear comes in constantly—pre-release stuff, prototypes, new drops—and I end up swapping things in and out almost daily. It’s part of the job.
That means I often carry more than I need, or multiples of the same thing. It’s not the minimalist, utilitarian approach EDC was built on. But EDC as a whole has changed—it’s not just about sharing how you conceal carry anymore. It’s also about trying new stuff and enjoying it, sharing it with the community.
Let’s take a look at what I’m carrying now, for example:
That’s actually a return to what I used to carry. A lot of this stuff has become my baseline. I may swap in a new knife here and there, but the core hasn’t changed much. Even when I rotate, I’m rotating within the same set of tools.
So, does switching between five Redhawks mean I don’t have an EDC? I don’t think so. I see EDC more as a framework: knife, light, wallet, pen, etc. The items don’t have to be exactly the same every day.
That’s how I look at it. But I want to know what you think.
Does rotating disqualify it from being EDC? Leave a comment and let me know—or check out the full Deep Cuts episode for my full take.

Trivia Answer
Answer: Vikings
Viking graves across Scandinavia consistently show small fixed blades (knifr), fire steels (eldstål), tweezers, earspoons, and other personal items worn daily on belts. These weren’t ceremonial—they were utilitarian tools for everyday life: lighting fires, preparing food, grooming, even dealing with infections. The consistency and portability of these kits makes them one of the clearest historical examples of what we’d now call “everyday carry.”
