Knife Laws Tighten, but Big Drops Keep Coming

New knife regulations, big releases, and my latest knife debuted at Blade Show Texas

In partnership with

Knives are dropping, laws are tightening, and the EDC world keeps moving in the wake of Blade Show Texas.

The UK is rolling out new regulations requiring retailers to report suspicious or bulk knife purchases and enforce stricter age verification for online sales. Meanwhile, Australia is banning machetes, adding more restrictions to the mix.

But let’s focus on the good stuff. Vero Engineering’s Mystery Blem Boxes are back, Big Idea Design’s Open Box Sale is live, and my second knife design—the Tactile Knife Co. Redhawk—debuted at Blade Show Texas.

Let’s do the damn thing!

Upcoming at BDEDC

The last few weeks at Best Damn EDC have been a blur—in the best way possible. We road-tripped to my hometown to shoot a video about the story behind the Civivi Clingman, stopping by SMKW along the way to talk about it.

Rikki and I took a road trip to Fort Worth, TX for Blade Show with our friends at Big Idea Design.

Tactile Knife Co. Redhawk

While we were there, we stopped by Tactile Knife Co. to pick up my first prototype of the Redhawk (pictured above)—my second knife design. Having two designs in hand at the show kept us busy, so we didn’t get to shoot as much video as we’d planned. But we’ve got some Blade Show coverage coming this weekend, so stay tuned!

Carry Commission Drop

Last week, we restocked the Carry Commission-Exclusive Al-Bronze Pro-Tech Malibu and the Onyx Hitchhiker. We also dropped, for the first time, the Brass Screwdriver Keychain, which holds two bits inside. They’re still on the site now.

Also, this coming week, we’re dropping a killer collaboration with Paladin33—an exclusive Belt Bag in green and brown waxed canvas. You’re not going to want to miss this one.

Carry of the Week

My watch was gifted to me by my wife on my 23rd birthday and has been an absolute necessity ever since. Working in the harsh environments of construction, rain or shine means I need a waterproof note taking set up. My Olight always keeps my hands free at night when attached to my ball cap. I have a bugout camping trip coming up and I had to get the camp version of the Gerber strongarm.

I NEED a high quality holster for my G45. I typically carry spare mag in a separate kydex holster. I do not like the separate pieces.

Big Idea Design is having an open box event that lasts … until everything is gone. It’s 20% off items that have been returned or opened for various reasons. Many of the items are already gone, but at the time of writing, there are still Ti Field Watches in solar and automatic, a handful of pen options, a Bit Bar in Battle Worn Black, and a Ti Utility Knife.

The Jack Wolf Knives Diamondback Jack, a modern take on the classic Trapper, drops today at 2:00 PM EDT at dealers. This updated design features a Wharncliffe blade, front flipper, and bolster lock on ceramic bearings for smooth action. Built with S90V steel and dark-blasted titanium bolsters, it's available in Fat Carbon Purple Haze, Green Linen Micarta, Kirinite Black Ice, and Titanium Crystalized. Each knife includes a pocket clip recess plug for clipless carry. Limited availability—don’t miss it!

The Vero Engineering Mystery Blem Boxes are making a highly requested return at 11:00 AM EDT. These boxes offer 10-20% off MSRP on select models, depending on the configuration, and each one includes a few surprise extras at no additional cost. There are both Blem Knife Mystery Boxes and Blem Mystery Fulcrum Boxes while supplies last. If you missed out last time, now’s your shot—these tend to go fast!
