Let's get this thing started...

Hey all,

First of all, thank you for signing up for this email list. It’s something I’ve been kicking around for a long time––a way to provide a valuable service to everyone in the everyday carry space. I wanted to build a one-stop shop where enthusiasts and collectors could find all the upcoming drops and events and a place where makers and brands could reliably reach their audiences since social media has made that increasingly difficult.

You can think of this as the natural evolution of the EDC Weekly. I know some of you will still prefer the video format, and that’s okay. We’ll try to keep making them as time permits. But this is the thing I’ve wished existed for a long time––and it never did. So I’m building it myself.

I only have one favor to ask of you. Please share this with any friends you think would enjoy it, but also share it with makers and brands who could benefit from it.

Alright, enough preamble. Let’s do the damn thing.

ICYMI

You may have missed this awesome video. Rikki, who has mostly remained behind the camera and in our dark dungeon-like editing bay, decided to make a video independently. Originally, he uploaded it to his own channel, but we both decided more people needed to see it, so we re-uploaded it to Best Damn EDC.

Not only is it a great story, it’s also very entertaining. And several of the comments dubbed it a spiritual successor to the content of our good friend Zac in the Wild who, sadly, is no longer making content for his channel.

Upcoming Drops and Events:

  • 9/16/2024: Big Idea Design launched a pre-order for their next batch of USA Lookout Fixed Blades. The pre-order kicked off on the 16th, but it’s still running with an estimated delivery in late November. This round is being released in Ultem, Black G-10, Tigerwood, or Natural Micarta. The Lookout is still one of my favorite fixed blades to EDC. If you want to pick one up, you can use code CARRYON for 10% off.

  • 9/20/2024: Knafs and Big Idea Design launched a Kickstarter for one of the coolest EDC pens to come along to date. It’s called the Sancho Pen and it takes a page from the designer’s book on the Civivi Sendy by stowing a toothpick and tweezers into the cap of the pen. The Kickstarter campaign is successfully funded with 15 days to go and is estimated to ship in February 2025.

  • 9/20/2024: The Aerocrafted Retract Pen officially launched. Aerocrafted originally created the Sideslip, an ultra-lightweight utility knife, but has since expanded its product lineup to include keychain tools and pens. The Retract comes in two sizes and features a unique toggle mechanism that consists of only one moving part and zero fasteners.

  • 9/27/2024: Bilgewater Blades is dropping 15 custom Jack Rabbits and five Ultem Jack Rabbits at 3PM EDT. All blades are CPM M4 at 63.5 HRC, 7” overall length and 3” Blades. Wyatt’s custom Jack Rabbits are some of the most beautiful customs you can find. (We also dropped a Carry Commission exclusive Jack Rabbit with textured canvas micarta handles on Tuesday and there are still just a few in stock.)

  • 9/30/2024: Big Idea Design is launching its Kickstarter for the second generation of its folding knife, the Ti Pocket Knife II. It’s sporting a larger 3.25” M390 drop point blade with a flat grind and thumb studs (and inline flipper) on ceramic bearings. And the handles are grade 5 titanium with a ceramic bearing lock bar. The best part? These are expected to arrive before Christmas.

  • 9/30/2024: Novel Carry and Benchmade are doing a joint giveaway of a Novel Carry Tile and a Bugout CF Elite. Upon entry of the giveaway, entrants will receive a 10% coupon to be used in the Novel Carry Store on products like custom scales or a Tile.

  • 10/4/2024: Blade Show West is taking place October 4-5 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Salt Palace. Personally, I have something very exciting to unveil at the show. If you’re attending in person, come meet me at the Civivi booth for some hands-on.

  • Hound Valley Goods will release the Stitchless Buck on October 4. It’s exactly what it sounds like––a stitchless version of Hound Valley’s most popular minimalist leather wallet, the Buck. These wallets will be made to order in Minerva leather with six different color options, but custom requests can be accommodated. Code DAMN at checkout will give 10% off all orders.

  • Berg Blades Sweeny will be returning on October 4. This will be an extremely limited drop with five different configs––a plain titanium frame lock and four bolster lock variants. Overall length on the Sweeny is 7.75” with a blade length of 3.35” and CPM 20CV steel.

Carry of the Week

I absolutely can’t go without a knife when I’m off from work. I always have a light and multitool in my truck so those are always nearby. But when it comes to being at work, a multi-tool and flashlight are definitely things I need to get through the workday.

Email Giveaway

Our good friend Tom with Knives by Nuge donated a Wicket XL for a giveaway, specifically for those of you who have signed up for this email list. If you’re seeing this in your inbox, you’re already entered. You don’t need to do anything else. We’ll draw a winner in a couple of weeks and reach out to you using the email you provided.

This Wicket XL is special, to say the least. It’s a textured ironwood handle with brass tubes, MagnaCut steel, and a leather lanyard with a matching textured bead. It comes with an ambi-sheath as well as a leather belt sheath. And there’s another surprise in the box that I won’t reveal just yet.

Thanks again!
