The One Blade Finish Everyone Hates (It's Not What You Think)
Unless you hate mirrors...

Back from the woods. Barely.
After spending nearly a week at Georgia Bushcraft—sleeping in a tent, eating frog legs and things that shouldn't be burgers (kangaroo and camel, apparently), and somehow missing the mini rave—I'm finally back home. It rained. A lot. My boots are still drying.
But I'm showered now. Back indoors. Sleeping like a civilized human. And despite smelling like campfire and salmon for most of the trip, I came back with some legitimately cool gear—which means there's a Georgia Bushcraft haul video coming your way soon.
For now, let's do the damn thing.
This Week At BDEDC
Deep Cuts
What's the worst blade finish on a knife? I thought I knew the answer. Turns out, I was completely wrong. We asked the community, and the landslide winner wasn't stonewash, coated blades, or even bead blast (though that one deserves its own conversation about rust).
In this week's Deep Cuts, we break down why certain finishes rust faster than others, why mirror polish drives people insane, and what it means when your $650 MagnaCut knife gets surface rust after two days in your pocket. Plus: new gear from Buck, the Lander 5 from Knafs, and a launch date for those Gaslight Industries lighters you've been asking about for a year.
If you've ever wondered why your knife looks dirty no matter how much you clean it—or why that premium steel isn't living up to the hype—this one's for you.
Carry Commission Drop
We got a fresh batch of the ever-popular Frontier First, an affordable, USA-made fixed blade from the awesome people over at LT Wright Knife, and we took them to Georgia Bushcraft this past weekend. Fortunately, for you, we had some left over. So they’ll be up and on the site this Thursday at 2:00 pm EDT. We’ll also be restocking the Blue Ridge Overland Gear Bum Bags.
If you want one or both of these, you’d better be quick. They sell out every time we stock them.
To keep up with Carry Commission drops, be sure to subscribe to our email list.
