The Worst Time to Be a Knife Collector
And why every knife is starting to feel the same...

After Valve’s latest update, the Counter-Strike knife market nosedived overnight. Digital blades that once sold for thousands are now worth a fraction of that, proving even imaginary economies aren’t safe from real-world correction.
Meanwhile in the tangible world: new Carry Commission drops, fresh PNWBushcraft gear, Fenix flashlights, and a Deep Cuts episode on why the knife world might have lost a bit of its soul.
Let’s do the damn thing.
This Week At BDEDC
Deep Cuts
Is this the absolute worst time to be a knife collector? Between rising prices, ever-changing tariffs, and a cacophony of new knife designs each week, it’s a rough time to love knives. In this episode, we dive into that, community comments, some special gear from Smokey Mountain Knife Works, and… potatoes? There’s that and more in this week’s Deep Cuts.
Carry Commission Drop
With two drops and a restock, this week was a big one for Carry Commission. First up, was a restock of the ever-popular PNWBushcraft waxed canvas gear, including Cedar Bucket Bags, XL Waxed Canvas Travel Trays, and both the Maple and Birch Waxed Canvas Knife Rolls – the former holds 15 folding knives and the latter holds 8 fixed blades.
On Thursday, we launched the Carry Commission x Paladin33 Waxed Canvas Belt Bag XL, a larger version of the existing Waxed Canvas Belt Bag that we collaborated with Paladin33 on earlier this year.
If you haven’t started your Christmas shopping just yet, now is a great time to start because PNWBushcraft and Paladin33 make outrageously good quality waxed canvas gear right here in the US, and we’ve struggled to keep any of it in stock for any significant amount of time. Grab one before they’re gone.
Carry Commission also became a dealer for Fenix Flashlights, which are the best off-the-shelf flashlights on the market due to their USB-C recharging paired with swappable batteries. They may not be the flashiest with all the new bells and whistles, but that’s the point. Fenix focuses on things that matter and flashlights that just work, and that’s the sort of stuff we stand behind at Carry Commission.
Finally, Rikki pocket checked us here at Carry Commission, which you can find over on the Carry Commission YouTube channel. This might be the first real peek behind the curtain into the batshit shenanigans we get into at CC.

Carry of the Week

PCK
This is the product of several years’ experimentation. I’ve cycled through a few knives, most recently an older Cold Steel Recon drop point, but landed back on the Opinel because it’s inexpensive. Likewise with the flashlight and pen. My sweet spot has ended up being maximum utility at minimal cost.
Everything pictured here is carried every day. The oldest things are the carabiner and the wallet, as the patinas on each will attest. I’m bummed because the wallet has been discontinued, and I don’t have a replacement lined up for when it eventually wears out.
I would love an equivalent wallet for when the current one becomes unusable, though this is likely quite a few years down the road. The current one is probably a decade old at this point.
