You won't believe who's making an EDC flashlight...

This week, a new brand enters the flashlight scene, a boatload of upcoming knives, and some of the most expensive knives you've ever seen...

Hey there,

We’re back! Sorry, I missed you last week. I was in the woods without much service at the Georgia Bushcraft Fall Gathering. It’s always a great time with great people, and I highly recommend you check it out if you like the outdoors in any capacity.

I digress. The world of everyday carry never sleeps. So let’s get you guys caught up.

This Week at BDEDC

We’ve been hard at work here at Best Damn EDC, getting ready for the holidays and prepping much-awaited gift guides. We have a video scheduled for tomorrow about some of the coolest EDC gear we found at Georgia Bushcraft, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Carry Commission Drops

We also dropped a bronze topo Tactile Knife Co Bexar collaboration on Carry Commission. If you missed that drop, don’t worry. They’ll be back before too long. Looking forward, we have two drops happening next week…

  • The Knafs Lander 3 is a fantastic upgrade to the original Lander. Naturally, we wanted to put our spin on it over at Carry Commission, so we partnered with Knafs on an MMTW Lander 3 to complement the MMTW Lander 2 we launched earlier this year.

  • Also happening is a long-overdue Tactile Turn collaboration. We’re releasing a green anodized aluminum Bolt Action Pen with a topo clip and the donkey logo on the cap.

Both will drop on Carry Commission on Tuesday, November 19 at 8 pm EST.

11/10: DAILY Knives and Boker will release the bigger brother to the AK1, the AK4. While still firmly in the EDC category, the AK4 also doubles as a camping or outdoor knife with its larger grip and the larger and ridiculously tough CPM 3V blade. Like the AK1, it also comes with a host of customization options, like a two-tone or stonewashed blade finish and full titanium scales with inlay, lightweight titanium scales, or skeletonized G-10 scales. Mix and match and build your own starting at $145 for a blade and $60 and up for scales.

11/14: McNees Knives is selling shirts to raise money for Carolinas Christmas charity to support the ongoing rebuilding efforts in the Carolinas from Hurricane Helene. The shirts are made in the USA and 100% of sales will go towards the charity. You can also opt for additional donations to the tune of $10, $25, or $50 with the purchase of the t-shirt.

11/14: Vero Engineering had a big restock of its multi-functional pry tool, the Fulcrum, which now comes in four sizes: the 5.25” (13.3 cm) Full Size, 3.5” (8.9 cm) Mini, 2.5” (6 cm) Milli, and 1.5” (3.8 cm) Micro. Each size comes with a micro bit driver, and all but the Micro come with four WHIA micro bits (Philips, Flat, T10, and T8) and a bit well for storing two of them. At the time of this writing, all four sizes are still available in raw titanium.

11/15: Data Crew is releasing a new variant of its What-a-Junior Pouch in X-PAC Black. Not much more information is known other than the drop will be happening on a secret site and there may be an additional mystery Junior added to the drop, which is happening at 3:00 pm EST.

via Anso of Denmark

11/16: Anso of Denmark is releasing a new knife model, the TOKO, tomorrow during an online knife show called Launch16. Jens will host a launch party at their showroom in Denmark and give the invited guests early access to the knife show. Not much is known about the TOKO yet, besides it’s an ultra-clean design from Jens and it features a button lock. Tune in tomorrow for more.

11/19: The Null Knives Raiden R2 preorder will begin at 1 pm EST on November 19. The Raiden R2 builds on the original by introducing a host of new design elements and attention to detail such as new handle milling patterns (Aero and Type-S), MagnaCut steel, faux pivot collars, redesigned pivot heads, more weight relief, blade cut-outs, and an updated clip design. Pricing starts at $300 and there will be seven different configurations, which you can see here.

Open Preorders

Exceed Designs, known for its flipper frame lock utility knife, the TiRant Razor, is releasing a flashlight called the RAMPANT. Technically, the preorder isn’t open quite yet, but the light is expected to launch in December and the Instagram post says to email them to get on the preorder list. With two sizes to choose from, the RAMPANT is either a 14500 or 18650 flashlight with a proprietary X-RAMP UI and a precision-milled titanium rocker switch. It’s also fully serviceable and moddable with a handful of options for material, finish, and emitters.

Carry of the Week

I work for State Parks in Idaho and have started putting Glow Rhino fobs on all my equipment keys. I love that stuff. The Arcform is a recent pickup from Bladeshow West, but I love that knife so far. For the past year or so it's been a Demko AD20.5

From the Community

The gents over at Dutch Bushcraft Knives were kind enough to show one tiny, easily overlooked detail to help spot a fake Spyderco knife. And then they put a fake to the test against a real Spyderco.

MelissaBackwoods went to the Art Knife Invitational and gave us a peek behind the curtain to one of the craziest exhibitions of cutting “tools” on the planet. They’re really just art pieces and insane feats of mastery and incredibly cool to look at.

Olight has a lot of new products this holiday season and some giveaways and Black Friday deals. Rather than try to explain it all, they have a very in-depth keynote-style video detailing everything.

Trivia

Which folding knife brand was the first to use a pocket clip, changing the way people carry knives?
